Good news folks . Starting Jan 1st 2022, food and packaging container made from Styrofoam (Polystyrene Foam) have been banned in New York state. The Styrofoam packing peanuts have also been banned.

Most of us have seen Styrofoam containers when we order takeout. They are the white clam-shell type containers. Styrofoam is light , breaks easily, and does not biodegrade well, contributing a lot to micro-plastic pollution. Since they are not a candidate for recycling program, banning them is a great decision for our environment and community.
