Dont Trash Jack-O-Lantern

Keep Halloween Green!
Mulch It:
Smash up your pumpkins and spread them in your yard. They will break down and feed your soil.

Compost It:
Toss pumpkins in your food scrap compost bin or drop them in the green food scrap compost bins at DPW, 15 Marbledale Road. All non biodegradable decoration removed. Painted pumpkins are okay.

Yard Waste It:
Place pumpkins curbside to be picked up by DPW on Thursdays and composted as yard waste. All non biodegradable decoration removed. Painted pumpkins are okay.

Why It Matters:
Composting helps the planet by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, restoring soil for carbon capture, improving water retention to prevent flooding (so important in Tuckahoe), and reducing the need for synthetic fertilizers.
